31/12/2009Gritting: Is anyone else angry about the state of our roads and pavements in Crosshouse?

Hi, Merry Xmas

Just a wee note to ask if anyone else is angry about the state of our roads and pavements I think they are a disgrace. They keep telling us that the gritters are out 24/7 - where!! Yes maybe on main roads and motorways. But what about streets and pavements, we have still to get out of our streets and walk on the pavements to get to the main roads. But not all main roads are being done, Crosshouse has 2 main bus routes these are not always done as I have experienced myself skidding all over the place. also you can not walk on the pavements it's sheer ice no matter what footware you have on you can not walk on sheer ice. The number of people I have seen falling is terrible. Myself included more than once, maybe I'll sue.

What are they doing about it nothing I have seen gritters at laybye lying sleeping at 11o clock in the morning with a full load more than once also going round some streets but not laying any grit. So what are we paying out taxes for. thay are not doing the job and I don't care how many times they come on TV and say they are doing a great job. Sorry where I live they are not. Maybe if we stopped our council tax for a couple of months maybe they would do something about it then, lobby our MPs and councillors. I know I will, hope others do the same. Well that's my little rant sorry hope you all have a great new year.

Hi Lynn was just talking to my friend Annie on the phone, and what you have just said is true, she cannot even get down to the post office because of the state of the roads and pavements where she lives, they say they have not enough grit to do the side streets how come North Ayrshire can do it. I would say that the streets and the pavements are just as important as the main roads because their are people who need these kept clear such as anybody using cruches or sticks and of course the senior citizens who like to get out and about and can't because of the state of the side streets. Well I just hope that the right person is reading these comment and we get something done soon. Happy New Year to all Margaret Garton
I haven't been out in ages as i am afraid I'll fall. The pavements are terrible - I have run out of bread and milk. My daughter works and I dont ask her to come in from the hospital with my shopping as it's safer for her to go on to the bypass to castlepark. The roads and streets in castlepark are attrocious.
I was going to attempt going into Irvine today but have thought better of it.
Merry xmas and a happy new year to all - also Margaret and Eddie Garton.
well you wont believe this one i finally saw a gritter out spreading grit in annandale view today at last! its a pity that a pipe has now burst in annandale crescent and washed all the grit away! and as for the burst pipe it happened at about 11am i have saw 1 scottish water van with 1 man in it out looking at leak and now there is 2 gardens in annandale crescent flooded and the water is running down annandale view and if that freezes tonight i dread to think what it will be like tomorrow so people beware if in annandale view or annandale crescent j galloway

Have your say:
