Crosshouse shop voted in the UK's Top 28 Convenience Stores

CJ Lang Spar is a National Champion: Mary Shaw shows off the award
CJ Lang Spar, Crosshouse has been crowned one of the best 'Neighbourhood Shops' in the UK at the prestigious Robert Wiseman Dairies 'Neighbourhood Shop of the Year' Awards which recognises excellence across the convenience retail sector.
The shop saw off competition from hundreds of stores across the UK to win the accolade at a glittering ceremony at Cameron House on the banks of Loch Lomond on Thursday 10th December.
The store also received a special award for Excellence in Merchandising. The judges were impressed with the fixtures and displays of various promotions and products, especially their displays of locally sourced products. Sandy Wilkie, Sales and Marketing Director at Robert Wiseman Dairies said: "The stores in the national finals represent the cream of convenience retailing and CJ Lang Spar is very deserving of its place amongst the top 28 convenience stores in the country and its award for Excellence in Merchandising.
"In the current economic climate convenience stores are a key factor in maintaining the local economy as well playing a major part in their community. This is the 14th Neighbourhood Shop of the Year awards - it's an anticipated date in the convenience sector calendar. What makes these awards unique and so successful for such a long time, is that it's the customers' voice that counts, and it's our chance to reward excellence and say thank you."
After being nominated by their customers, each of the national finalists underwent a rigorous judging process. This included being visited by mystery shoppers who judged the stores against a strict criteria including friendliness of staff, merchandising and product range.
