Lions Clubs International
‘We Serve’
Lions Club International is the largest Voluntary Community ServiceOrganisation in the World, operating in over 200 Countries and now with over 2.million members. Lions Clubs comprise of Men & Women from all walks of life, who give some of their most valuable time to helping those, in the local community and overseas, who are less fortunate than ourselves, operating under one motto of ‘We Serve’, they provide a vehicle for people to put something back into the community, that has nurtured them through life, and perhaps leave a very worthwhile legacy for those that come after us.
There are also LEO Clubs which are open to young people 16 – 25years, of age, these are designed to encourage young people to take an active part in their community and develop friendships at home and abroad. The Town of Kilmarnock had an excellent Club serving well, the community at home and abroad, sadly, as happens to us all; age has forced its retirement.
My family and I are comparative new comers to this lovely village of Crosshouse, although, I am a long serving member of Lions Clubs International, we are Scots people who have returned home. I was hoping to join the Kilmarnock Club upon our arrival, which could not happen, so I was invited to become a member of Ayr & Prestwick Club, another extremely active Club, one of 54 other Clubs in Scotland.
I would like to form a Club to serve this area of Kilmarnock again. We would like to hear from anyone, in your area, who feels they can give some of their time and put something back into our Community. With dark economic clouds around us, communities will need to work together to help those who cannot help themselves, a Lions Club in your area is the surest way of bringing that about.
